Animal Clashes in Bazi
A clash in Chinese Metaphysics involves a conflicting relationship between the elements, an example is the classic fire clash with water.
When a clash happens, it usually brings about a change; it can be a major or minor change which will cause interruptions, challenges or difficulties.
It can also result to a loss or removal of something or someone in our life.
We all know that Life is not always filled with colored and fragrant flowers. Problems and difficulties arise... it just depends on how we handle or take them...
Moreover, clashes may not be always bad. More often it can mean a change in our path and direction which may be for the better.
The clash in each of our 4 pillars in Bazi would mean a different path or change in our lives and or career as follows:
Clash in the Year Pillar
These will be challenges/changes in our surroundings, in our network, friends or grandparents
Clash in the Month Pillar
Challenges/changes in our work, career, parent, or siblings.
Clash in the Day Pillar
Challenges/changes in our spouse (their decisions, choices or over-all health. it may sometimes mean a separation or divorce) or on ourself ( our decisions, outlook and or health)
Clash in the Hour Pillar
Challenges/changes in our investment, property, ambitions, dreams, desire or children.
The Different kinds of Clashes:
1) The 6 Directional Clashes
The animal signs occupy the opposite directions in the compass. This is the most common clash.
Rat – Horse: ( North~ South) Water and Fire clash ~Emotion and Intelligence clashing.
2) The Betrayal clashes
In Bazi, some zodiac signs can prevent a sign to join with another to form an auspicious combination. It is called a Betrayal clash since it can stop good things from happening
Listed Below are the betrayal (or sabotage) relationships among the zodiac signs:
Rat and Goat
Tiger and Snake
Monkey and Pig
Ox and Horse
Rabbit and Dragon
Dog and Rooster
3) The 3 Punishment Clashes
The 3 punishment clash is a severe conflicting clash between 3 zodiacs. When their formation occur, it can result in very unfavorable or unfortunate events.
Fortunately, there are only 2 configurations under this type of clash.
Tiger and Snake and Monkey
Ox and Goat and Dog
An example is for this year of the Ox 2021, The Grand Duke (Taisu) is at the NE1 and is in Direct clash with the Goat ( SW1 which is the year breaker). The Goat together with the Dog also have the 3 punishment clash with the Ox for the year.
With this clashing influences directed at the Goat this year, people with this sign in their 4 pillars should prepare to experience big changes.
Another example is for this month ( May 5th to June 5th ) of the Water Snake:
a) The Snake forms a directional clash with the Pig~ those who have the zodiac of the Pig in their chart will experience the challenges or changes this month depending on where the sign of the Pig falls in your 4 pillars ( see above)
Pig ~ forms a Directional Clash with Snake. There will be inevitable changes to come. There is a need to keep a realistic outlook for what lies ahead.
b) The Snake forms a 3 punishment clash with the Tiger and Monkey.
Again, refer to the pillar where these signs ( Tiger and or Monkey) fall in your chart These 3 signs
(Snake, Monkey and Tiger) will feel the most challenging energies for changes for this month as follows:
Monkey ~forms Destruction with Snake. There is a need to change and give up on our old ways of doing things to make way for something new to move forward.
Tiger ~ forms Harm with the Snake. There is a need to look back on our blessings to cultivate our feelings of gratitude. In this way, it will lighten our load of loneliness or disappointments due to realization of broken promises, feelings of inadequacy, and lack of appreciation,
Question > Can we avoid a Clash to happen? Unfortunately, we cannot...
The good thing for learning how to read our Bazi is that when we know that there is a clash that is going to happen, we can prepare for it before it comes, or we can initiate to make the change that at least, will be to our liking... an example is if we know that there will be a clash in our Day Pillar (relationship palace), then we can prepare for emotional conflicts~ try to control our emotions, avoid conflicts or take a break to have some moment to think)
Fortunately, a knowledge of Feng Shui and BAZI analysis can aid us in preparing for the clash and in some cases, by 'combining' with our animal sign allies, it may reduce the ill effects of the clash...
We are all familiar with the "compatibility" of the
different Chinese zodiac animal signs in terms of friendships and romance. Did you know that these relationships are actually derived from the Earthly Branches' stars configurations in BAZI analysis?
Hereunder is a list of some of the "friendly" relationships of our Earthly Branches or Animal signs in BAZI.
1) Seasonal combinations (三会)
We all know that each animal sign carries a Season and an Element as follows:
SUMMER~ FIRE Element ~ Snake, Goat and Horse. (June 1 to August 31)
SPRING~ WOOD element~Tiger, Dragon Rabbit (March 1 to May 31)
AUTUMN~ METAL element~ Rooster, Monkey, Dog (Sept 1 to Nov 30)
WINTER~ WATER element~ Pig , Rat, Ox (Dec 1 to Feb 28)
The combination of zodiacs that belong to the same season and the strength of the blending of their same elements can produce great energies for team work to achieve great results together! For this reason, the Seasonal Combinations is the most powerful blending!
2) 3 Combinations (三合 ~allies)
These combinations involve a union between 3 different zodiacs that result in the creation of a particular element.
Even if the three zodiac sign are of 3 different element base, their combinations would result in a new element to achieve a desired energy as follows:
Pig and Rabbit and Goat creates Wood
Tiger and Horse and Dog creates Fire
Snake and Rooster and Ox creates Metal
Monkey and Rat and Dragon creates Water
In some instances, when only 2 out of the 3 ally signs are present, they can still combine and form allies but this will produce lesser energy.
3) Half combinations
Front half combinations (前半合) ~ Formed by the first 2 member signs mentioned above:
Pig and Rabbit creates Wood
Tiger and Horse creates Fire
Snake and Rooster creates Metal
Monkey and Rat creates Water
Back half combinations (后半合) ~ Formed by the last 2 member signs above:
Rabbit and Goat creates Wood
Horse and Dog creates Fire
Rooster and Ox creates Metal
Rat and Dragon creates Water
4) The 6 combinations (六合 or Secret Friends)
These combinations refer to 6 basic types of alliances between the 12 zodiac animal signs as follows:
Rat and Ox creates Earth
Tiger and Pig creates Wood
Rabbit and Dog creates Fire
Dragon and Rooster creates Metal
Snake and Monkey creates Water
Horse and Goat creates Fire
The above combinations are known as secret friends or secret allies. Their combination with each other can mitigate a clash when it occurs. They can both prevent each other from getting into harm if done in a timely manner.
An example is in this year 2021 of the Ox, the Clash of
the Ox and the Goat brings numerous obstacles for both signs. Bringing the sign of the Rat to combine with the Ox can mitigate the ill effects of the clash.
~The rat is the first of the 12 animal signs so it's great
qualities are that of leadership and taking control. For those with the signs of the Ox or the Goat in their chart, putting these qualities into action will help ease the possible effects of the clash.
Moreover, in Feng Shui house audits and analysis, each animal zodiac takes up a specific spot on the compass involving the 24 Mountains. This year, for those with the sign of the Goat in their chart, another method of combining the Ox with the sign of the Rat is to enhance the North 2 sector (home of the Rat) by spending most of their important activities at the sector.
Here is a summary of the different animal signs base on the Day clashes and their secret allies:
(protection)

Rabbit 卯 Rooster 酉 Dragon 辰

These are just very basic explanations of Clashes and Friendly combinations of the animal signs or Earthly Branches in Bazi
