Gearing up for Period 9
In less than 5 months, we will be fully transitioned to Period 9.
Most of us by now must have read (or even experienced) the inevitable transformations the next 20 years will bring to our lives~ changes on how we do business, manage our careers and earn money, rectifications and revisions in our values, ideals, and beliefs, shifts in our environment, and non-traditional modifications of our over all way of living.
In this article, we will discuss to understand the transformations of the stars for the first year of period 9 ( * the new period of Fire , the only element which brings transformation!)
that is 2024, the year of the Wood Dragon~ "Jia Chen".
We will learn here how the different transformations affects us, plus suggestions on personal preparations we can initiate now
( based on the energies of the fourth quarter of this year, and our personal Bazi & Feng Shui star energies), to align to the coming period.
4 Transformations of Stars in 2024
The Book of Changes (“Yi Jing”) – 易經 discusses the four transformations that the stars undergo with the natural law of changes and how these affect everyone of us in the environment.
Zi Wei Dou Shu ( Chinese Purple Star Astrology) interprets that the stars are influenced and transformed under the changes in time and space, based on the Heavenly Stem (天干) of the year. This can be likened to the transformation nature undergoes during the changes in seasons.
Each year, there are 4 main enhancers for the transformation:
1) Hua Lu is the flow enhancer
2) Hua Chun is the power enhancer
3) Hua Ke is the fame enhancer
4) Hua Ji is the negative enhancer
As shown on the above chart, for Jia Chen, the four major stars which are transformed are:
1) Lu ( Flow) ~ "Lian Zheng" ~ The Diplomat
The features and characteristics of this transformation will be seen in abundance next year. It will manifest self-centeredness, originality, numerous new ideas and concepts, tendency to be unconventional, arrogance, being argumentative and even distrust and being double faced. Focus is on vanity, good appearance, risk -taking, uncustomary methods of earning money like gambling and the waning of the traditional ways of doing business and over-all methods in life, which interestingly, will often be more fruitful.
2) Chun ( Power and Control) ~ Po jun" ~ The Game Changer
This transformation will be used to acquire and gain power in 2024. It involves revolutionary and often risky ways of doing of things, being courageous and not afraid to challenge and criticize the existing conventions and leaders , competitiveness and willingness to change directions and to embrace and try new methods and ideas to gain control and power ( in politics, and business)
3) Ke ( Fame or Status) ~ "Wu Qu" ~General or Commander star
This transformation will show in how people will manage their business, career, profession and ways of earning money. There will be yearnings for independence absolute control and entrepreneurship, mobility, adventurous but decisiveness which will invite helpful noblemen. Focus is on long-term personal gain and not anymore for a group or corporation.
4) Ji ( Problems and Lessons) ~"Tai Yang" ~ The Sun Star
Transformations here will involve mostly the senior male. The changes in period 9 will often be swift, unstable and at times may be chaotic, ( since we are just coming out of a pandemic and is still under a looming risk for an economic recession), There will be issues of trying to bring back the traditional and old ways of doing things, especially by the older generation which may however bring more trouble. Energy here will be full of obstinacy, inflexibility and being stubborn which will be a challenge we have to solve, or a lesson we will have to learn.
Knowing and understanding these various transformations can help us to prepare ourselves in establishing our goals for the next coming years of the new period.
It will require flexibility and an open mind and the willingness to venture and embrace new things, to find out what works and disregard what does not work anymore, without compromising our social and moral obligations.

The Basics
1) Land Forms
Feng Shui is the flow of energy from nature which when timely streamed and activated into our environment and living spaces, can provide us advantageous and propituous opportunities for fortune, luck and over-all prosperity!
To effectively integrate and merge our living spaces with this energy from nature, first nature should remain innate and sustainable; its landforms must remain intact ~ ( ie mountains are flourishing and not barren or rocky, it's form not distressed; surrounding bodies of water are clean and sustains wild life, etc...)
A view of these landforms ( mountains and bodies of water) from our home can permeate us with these energies.
Over numerous years and over the passage of time, due to the cost of community development and progress, these landforms may be unfortunately abysmally tampered and altered. There may even come a duration when it may not anymore provide us with the same prosperous energies...
This is a reason for us to consider civic changes to endow back to our own environment, the ability to continue to sustain, support and maintain itself... If this is not possible, then sadly, we can consider it a time for us to move on to another location...

2) Period 9 Compliance
It is generally advised that our homes should be compliant to Period 9 to be able to avail of the period's energies. Some of our existing homes from the previous period 8 may still be good for period 9; some may however have to do some minor or major renovations...

3) Sectors of the Home
A house should have all the complete sectors present. This is the reason why most houses are built in a square or rectangular shape. A sector is considered missing if only 1/3 of the area is present in your home.
a) South Sector
In period 9, the most important sector is the South so this should not be missing in your home. This sector should be kept clean, clutter free and brightly lit with no external "sha-qis". A view of a mountain from this sector of the home is considered auspicious for Period 9.
b) Bazi Chart
Your life sector based on your life Gua ( or Kua number) should not be missing. ( i.e. a person with a life gua of 2 should have the SW sector intact in the home.) This sector should be free of external "sha qis" poison arrows or killing energies ( i.e. sharp objects from the environment pointing towards the sector, T-junction; pylons, etc) It should be orderly and kept clean and clutter free.
Your celestial animal sign's sector should also be present and not missing in your home. ( This is the chinese zodiac animal sign of your birth year) Again, the area should be clean, orderly and well lit.
Aligning our living space by Activating our personal Bazi stars and some of the current 2023 Flying Stars
There are about 4 particular and unique features of Period 9 which can assist us to attain our goals smoothly, if we make the effort to align ourselves and our activities with these inclinations and or temperaments.
They are Spirituality and Manifestation, Collaboration, Technology dominance, and Women Power
1) Personal Gua number - In Purple White Feng Shui, one would automatically have the energy of the sector where your personal gua number resides.
Anyone can also choose to activate the good sectors this year to prepare for next year even if it is not your personal gua sector as long as your birth animal sign does not clash with the animal sign of the sector.
For example, looking at Figure 2 above, those with Life Gua 2 has the Southwest as their life sector.
For 2023, the star of connection 1 visits the SW and combines with the wealth star 8 this year.
This is still a good sector to activate for networking and collaboration with people who are very resourceful and for meeting those who have wealth and power to help you.
The sign of Monkey ( SW 2 -3) is however affected by the 3-killings star, so there should be no renovations on this sector. Clashing birth animal signs are the Ox and the Tiger.
The North is another good sector to activate this year, since the popularity and fame star 9 and the star of communication star 7 combines at the sector.
The energy here will be good for those involved in social media and technology. It will enhance one's capacity to communicate better and influence a group of followers! Good to activate the sector with Yang water on a good date.
The Fortune Virtue star is also visiting the sector this year! ( good for reputation building and wealth accumulation)
Lastly, another good sector to activate this year is the South Sector
The wealth star 8 visits the South and combines with star of Power and Authority star 6.
The energy here is good for those who wants to improve their leadership skills. Be willing and be ready to be very busy with work though, if you want to enhance the wealth star!
The Moon Virtue star also resides at the South this year. ( good for manifestations and self- introspection activities)
If you have not activated or utilized the SW, North and South sectors up to this time, try to start now for the next months before February 4th 2024.
2) Peach Blossom Star ~ activate your peach blossom star sectors this year to prepare yourself for next year, if you want to invite helpful people in your life.
This can also assist you if you desire to establish a personal relationship or a business or partnership that will involve fame to increase your influence and success in branding. This can attract a number of clients or followers ( although not all may have desirable qualities)
Activation may be in the form of doing your important activities at the sector
( such as setting up your work table there) or by arranging the sector to make it look very appealing ( set up fresh flowers or vision boards)
A bit of caution should be observed if you have the Rabbit or Rooster as your peach blossom star. The Rabbit is at the Grand Duke sector this year and the Rooster is the year breaker and the sector of the 3 Killings, so absolutely no renovations, pounding and hammering on the wall.
One would have a big advantage however, if you have the Horse as your peach blossom animal.
3) Intelligence Star ~ to learn, study or upgrade your skills in technology or on any subject you may want to further your knowledge and skills on, set up your study table and do your readings, researches and studies at the sector where your Intelligence animal star sign resides.
4) Solitary Star ~ to do personal mind and emotional clearing, introspection for self improvement, spiritual reflections, and manifestations to have clarity in establishing your goals for the future, sit and do this activity at the sector where your solitary animal star sign resides.
5) Other Flying Stars to activate:
a) For Health~ If you are taking maintenance medications to sustain health and wellness, take you medications at the East sector this year
(where star 2 resides, which forms hetu or a sum of ten with the current wealth star 8)
Using a small "tai-ji" at the East, find the South sector there ~ since star 8 is at the South this year. That is where you should take your medications.
b) To facilitate healing from an illness, sleep and rest at the sector where star 6 resides for the year.
This year star 6 is at the West sector which is the year breaker and the 3 Killings sector, so a bit of caution should be observed. Keep your back to the East (Taisui) for protection and face the West, when you set your bed to rest.
c) activate star 1 ( at the SW this year) if you want to efficiently take control in managing your current finances, resources, and clearing your stocks.
Activating this star will also help you be more effective if you are in the field of consultation or counseling to provide appropriate help and solutions to people.
d) activate stars 8 and 4 ( especially when they combine at the South for the rest of this year) to effectively manage and increase your income in the stock market.
e) To increase your over-all income, if your are an employer who owns a business in selling, activate star 7 or star 8 if you have more than one business or wishes to have a side job.
Activate star 9 if you are a free-lanced employer or if you are involved in a business in social media or technology.
Activate star 6 if you are an employee seeking a promotion or an increase in salary ( although not for this year since star 6 is at the West which is the year breaker & 3 Killings sector)
Start to prepare this Fourth Quarter of 2023

The figures above are the Four pillars and the last Quarter ( Months of October, November, December and includes January of next year) of the Bazi chart of the Year 2023 (Water Rabbit)
If we look at the 4 pillars of 2023, the HOUR PILLAR (fourth pillar from birth pillar) represents the last quarter of Period 8. It is the gateway to the coming new Period 9 which is the Year of Fire that will run for the next 20 years!
The Hour pillar of 2023 has both it's heavenly stem and earthly branch as both fire elements ~ Ding Fire and Yin Fire (snake), making it a "pure" fire pillar, so it will be a very important component for our preparations for the transformations for next year.
Important things to understand about the coming 4th quarter of 2023
1) In the 4th pillar, the Wealth element is strong ~ ( IW & DW) but the self element is weak ~( both the elements of the month and the hour pillars ( Wood and Fire) counters the daymaster which is Water), so in this phase, people may have a difficult time holding on to their current job. There may be tight control of company budgets which may result in cost cuttings and retrenchments. Some people may also try to change jobs due to reversal in their existing work values and the desire to start their own business.
2) Since the self is weak in the 4th quarter, take caution of some illnesses that will affect the gut, stomach and digestive system, so have a check-up now if you are experiencing some symptoms already.
Four types of Business categories to consider to learn or align to, starting this October will be as follows:
a) Energy related business ( i.e. yoga and other related physical exercises, meditation, reiki healing, metaphysics, etc)
b) Beauty & Aesthetics Enhancement
c) Travel related businesses
d) Real Estate and Property Management
Action steps to take for the next 3-4 months of the 4th Quarter
1) October ~ " Think Big" ~ ( Ren water sitting on Direct Officer) "Gathering Hexagram"
Start to design your "big" plan of action by gathering information through collaboration with people, researching, watching and following the emerging trends, and congregating and talking with influential and successful people. Your target goals however should be immense, to maximize the use of the energy that this month brings, so that it can bring an exponential increase in your income and an over-all tremendous improvement in your life.
2) November ~ " A time for cleaning"
( Gui water sitting on Rob Wealth); "Peel Hexagram"
Setting up your priorities to attain clarity is the key for this month. It is a time to do an assessment of yourself and your needs as follows:
a) of the friends and acquaintances around you~(whether they support or hamper your goals)
b) of what you currently have and is it important to you ~ ( your family life, finances, and your job)
c) and lastly, your reason for doing the things your are currently doing. It is time to take control and let go of people and things in your life that only brings you down.
3) December ~ " time to upgrade" It is a month of new beginnings. "Earth Hexagram" ( which means creating a foundation)
The month of December is "Jia Zi", Jia is the Heavenly Stem and together with Zi, it is the first pillar of the 60 pillars in Chinese Metaphysics which connotes "a new beginning".
It is a time to upgrade your skills set, a good time to study and acquire new knowledge, to travel for study and be exposed to new culture, ideas and inspiration, to create a difference and mold and transform into the "new you" for success!
4) and lastly, January ~ a time for "ruthless execution"
The energy for this month can help us execute and act on our plans in a swift , fast and relentless manner. Our plans for transformation should be something incomparable, distinctive and revolutionary to maximize the use of the energy for this month.
Transformation through Manifestation
The NW sector stands for the months of October and November ( month of the dog and pig, the North sector is the month of December ( month of the rat), and the NE sector is the month of January ( month of the ox).
In the Qimen chart of the year 2023 as shown above, the configuration of the North is for quest for "luck" and the NE is for quest for helpful people.
Luck plays an important aspect in the successful implementation and realization of our plans, which brings us to another powerful energy for period 9 which is the power of manifestation ~ the innate espression and declaration of what we want to achieve for the next period.
Starting today until February 3rd 2024, we can do frequent manifestations to align ourselves with the next period. This is performed by positioning oneself with the back of our head to the North and our face towards the South.
